progress report March 2011
Handbrake and gear-lever back from platers and re-assembled. The base plates are still to be finished in black and the handle chromed. Door striker plates plated and re-assembled with new internal mechanisms.
The dash, gauges and wiper-mechanism are removed. The dash is stripped down and will be recovered. The gauges are boxed for now while I evaluate options. The wiper-mechanism is stripped and clearned and parts separated for plating and/or paint.
The pedal board has been re-assembled: satin black finish over sanded and treated wood (still in great condition). The pedals are sent to California to be professionally refurbished.
The shell is not almost bare inside - except for a day's work to chip away at the remaining sound deadening.

Sunday at the garage

The strip-down continues. The interior is now part-removed: seats, belts, carpets and mats, handbrake, gear-lever etc. I've still to remove the sound-deadening material and the dash and instruments.
The doors are stamped with the last three digits of the chassis number - nice touch.
The car has an original Webasto heater - here's a photo prior to removal (...so, if ever I decide, I can remember how to put it back one day!)
